Restaurant Insider was created to solidify Upserve as an authority for restaurant industry news and information. The goal was to create an independent sub-brand that generates organic search traffic, complimenting other content and social marketing efforts for the parent brand. Restaurant Insider includes advertising for Upserve and a sign up for the weekly newsletter "The Shift" which organically grew a subscriber base of over 2,000 within a few months. Several style identities were developed within the publication to highlight restaurateurs and their stories, such as the Voices, Behind the Bar, and The Future of Food sections.
